浮世絵は0.1ミリ『見て楽しむ江戸のテクノロジー』

浮世絵といえば、江戸時代に完成された芸術で、同じ紙の上に 色の異なる十数枚の木版を順次取り替えて重ねて印刷するというもの。 この木版の重ね合わせ誤差は 0.1 ミリメートル 以下。

精度が高いのは、芸術作品だけではない。

江戸時代には田中重久が萬歳自鳴鐘というのを作っている。 簡単に言うと時計なのだが、ただの時計ではない。 時刻の進む早さが変化する時計だ。 現在では、1時間といえば決まった長さだが、昔は違っていた。 日の出から日の入りまでを均等に6分割し、また日の入りから次の日の出までを均等に6分割していた。

萬歳自鳴鐘は、日の出・日の入りを正確に計算し、正確に6分割する時計である。 それだけではなく、月、曜日、太陽・月の位置関係も表す。 愛知万博にも出展された。

田中重久は、後の東芝を作ることとなった。

いずれにせよマニアックなものではあるが、江戸の科学は現代でも行われている余興のひとつとなっている。 でんじろうの静電気。 複数人が手をつないで輪になり、静電気を流した直後に皆後悔するというもの。

江戸時代、電気は大変珍しいものだった。 静電気を集めるというエレキテル。 平賀源内が作ったものかどうかはわからないらしい。 百人嚇(ひゃくにんおびえ)というもので、ある一室で何人もの人が一列に手をつなぐ。 両端の人は、襖(ふすま)の金具部分に手を添える。 襖(ふすま)を隔てて平賀源内が電気を流す。

エレキテルは、科学的発明というより見世物としての色彩が強かった。

Japanese Eel in its Best

I bought an eel. Yes, eel is in it’s best in winter, precisely in Feburary.

My grandmother said foods from China is bad, not to select Chinese. She knows everything. Yes, food from China is very dangerous, since Chinese food contains a great amount of harmful chemical substances.

Most Japanese believes eel’s best season is summer. But it’s nonsense. The superstition is born in Edo era.

Eel sellers had been confused in every summer, because eel is not sold in summer. Eel is winter food and deliscous in winter, otherwise it’s not good in summer. Then, an eel seller asked Gennai Hiraga, one of the best worker in Edo, to make eel sold in summer. Gennai said people that eel in summer is good for health then people began to buy and eat in summer. In these days, eel is believed as a summer food and people don’t know eel’s real taste.

Awful Shopper

Two girls sit beside of me.

Hearingly, the one girl bought too many goods a month. She said, the limit of her credit card had been 200 thousand yen, but her shopping activity often reaches to it, then she required the card company to make higher the limit. And she said it’s impossible to pay debt in one time. According to the chat, the company, BTMU, said her to pay debt in one time if she aquire to make hegher the limit.

I was so surprised about her terrible shopping. She buys more than 200 thousand yen with her card every month and makes debt every month. When will the debt be payed off? What is her peyment schedule? And make matters worse, she required the Bank to make the limit higher.

240 thousands people fall in bankruptcy every year, in Japan.
